Leuze MC388-S1M8-A Magnetically coded sensor

The Leuze MC388-S1M8-A Magnetically coded sensor sensor from the MC388 series is a magnetically coded safety sensor designed for contactless interlocking applications in high-safety environments. It is suitable for integration into control circuits up to Category 4 in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1, especially when used with evaluation units such as the MSI-MC310 safety relay or MSI 400 safety controller.

The sensor features 1NC + 1NO reed contacts, offering fail-safe operation with a B10d rating of 20 million cycles, ensuring long-term mechanical reliability. The response time is a fast 3 ms, supporting safety-critical, high-speed applications. Its magnetically coded actuator ensures Type 4 safety classification according to EN ISO 14119, with 3D actuation capability.

With a switching current of up to 500 mA and a maximum switching voltage of 27 V AC/DC, the unit is short-circuit protected via the evaluation unit. It operates at an assured cut-in distance (Sao) of up to 6 mm, and an assured cut-out distance (Sar) of at least 30 mm, providing a secure safety gap.

The self-extinguishing glass fiber reinforced PPS housing offers a durable and compact cubic design (25 x 13 x 88 mm), while IP67 protection ensures reliability in harsh environments. With a 4-pin M8 metal connector, arbitrary installation position, and a mechanical life of 10 million actuations, it delivers both flexibility and robust performance in safety applications.
