Sick VTE18-4P4240 Photoelectric Sensor

The Sick VTE18-4P4240 Photoelectric Sensor, Part Number 6013263, is a compact photoelectric proximity sensor with an energetic sensing principle, designed for reliable object detection over short to medium distances. Housed in a 78 mm long cylindrical metal body (M18 × 1 thread), it emits light axially and uses an infrared LED with a dispersion angle of approximately 2.8° for focused detection.

The sensor offers a sensing range of 5 mm to 350 mm (max. 400 mm), with a 20 mm light spot at 400 mm distance. The detection range is adjustable via a 270° potentiometer, providing installation flexibility.

Key electrical specifications include a 10–30 V DC supply, PNP switching output, and light/dark switching modes selectable via control cable. It handles up to 100 mA output current, responds in ≤2 ms, and supports a switching frequency of 250 Hz.

The unit offers IP67 protection, shielding it from dust and water immersion, which ensures suitability for industrial environments. It withstands temperatures from –25°C to +70°C and interfaces via a 4-pin M12 male connector. The nickel-plated brass housing not only enhances durability but also ensures long-term resistance to harsh conditions. Meanwhile, the PMMA plastic optics offer clear and consistent light transmission, thereby supporting accurate detection. Together, these features contribute to the sensor’s overall reliability in demanding industrial applications.
