The Baumer IGYX18N17B3/S14L Proximity Sensor (Article no.: 11078868) is a reliable quasi-flush inductive proximity sensor engineered for accurate metal object detection in industrial environments. It offers a nominal sensing distance of 8 mm and an assured sensing range of 6.4 mm, with excellent temperature stability (±10% of Sr from 0 to +60 °C) and a hysteresis of 3–20% of Sr. With a switching frequency of 400 Hz, it supports moderately fast automation tasks.

The sensor operates on a 10–30 VDC power supply and provides an NPN normally open (NO) output, capable of switching up to 200 mA with a voltage drop under 2.5 VDC. Short-circuit and reverse polarity protection ensure safe, consistent performance. The device features a rugged 18 mm diameter, 60 mm long cylindrical housing made from nickel-plated brass, paired with a durable red PBT sensing face. An M12 connector enables easy installation, while the sensor's IP67 rating and 25 Nm tightening torque support demanding, moisture-prone environments.
